As the new year gives me time to get caught up on all of my blogging from all of the amazing weddings I had the pleasure of photographing, it was so great to re-live the celebration of Alyssa & Allen’s wedding at the picturesque Devil’s head resort in Baraboo WI. The love that these two share is so refreshing and natural, the way they interact was a dream to photograph, with little direction from me, lots of giggles, tender touches and sweet kisses.
The boys and girls got ready on opposite sides of the resort, and I loved taking some beautiful bridal portraits of Alyssa against an open wall, and in the field of wildflowers. The outdoor ceremony was filled with lots of personal touches from her little brother playing and singing with his guitar, to an amazing trio of singers, and then the newly married couple dancing down the isle to Pharrell’s “Happy”…it was all pretty adorable.
After the ceremony we wrapped up family photos and a few more of the wedding party and then we jumped into our cars to a location that we had passed on the drive in. I knocked on the door and asked the owner if they would mind if we could do some photos on their AMAZING property. He was so gracious and showed me all around the property and I was literally jumping up and down with excitement! It was like we had hit the photographers dream location jackpot! Gorgeous vine-covered barns, an old gas station, and then my favorite – the rusty teal truck that just matched perfectly with Allan’s socks, all with sweet country music playing in the background and sunlight dripping through the trees. Me and Abby were just bouncing around like kids in a candy store. Ya…it was pretty amazing, AND – the best part was that it was totally spontaneous and unplanned which made it feel all the more perfect.
Back at the reception, the night included funny toasts, and lots of hugs, kisses and some dancing. And then to top it all – the wedding party did a lip-syncing spoof like on the Jimmy Fallon show….I was like crying laughing, it was hilarious!
